Easter Bunny came

We celebrated Easter with a last-minute egg hunt. The whole thing came together nicely with gorgeous weather and a gift from Nana and Grandpa with a sweet stuffed bunny and spring outfit that made her realize something was going on. Before this, she'd never heard the words "Easter Bunny", but she certainly was game to go along with the fun.
I ran over to the market on Saturday morning to buy plastic eggs, and found the only ones for sale at that point were in some sort of Finding Nemo theme, so we had shark eggs (complete with fins), clownfish eggs, and funny looking bug-eyed fish eggs.

I dumped out the bubble gum and neon jelly beans they came with and filled them with raisins and peanut butter pretzels (she'll learn about chocolate eggs and bunnies soon enough!) and hid them around the yard. We took her outside had a lot of fun playing up finding the "hidden" eggs.
We had to lead her to most of them, even though they were laying in plain sight. She caught on pretty quickly to the fact that they had sweet stuff inside them. That's my girl!
She asked us to open each one as soon as she got it. By the end, everything she touched was sticky with melted peanut butter!
Later on she helped Joe in the garden...
...and took a nap with the Easter Bunny.

On Sunday morning, I made these brioche "bunnies" which turned out great. Petra kept asking for her "bunny" and made it last for a few days.

And of course we dyed eggs. It was a little nerve-wracking letting her handle the hard-boiled eggs, but she had a lot of fun dribbling the colored water onto them.

Happy Spring!
