Cora Ruth

Cora arrived a few days before her due date. Labor started on its own, but when it stalled out -- and I was suffering some serious GI symptoms -- we decided to head to the hospital. Turns out I had a case of preeclampsia, so the midwives transferred my care to the OB-GYN's.
It was a pretty seamless transition, thanks to the amazing doctors, nurses, and midwives at OHSU. And other than the yards of plastic tubing attached to me, it was as natural and efficient a birth as we could have hoped for.

Cora Ruth was born at 11:11pm on the 14th, 6lbs 2 oz, almost 19 inches. She was as feisty as she always was inside my belly, and gripped my fingers within seconds of being born.

Petra was fascinated by her new baby sister, and had fun counting fingers and toes and comparing them to her own.

She also loved the ice cream that came as part of her dinner, though the macaroni and cheese didn't quite live up to her standards.

Welcome, sweet baby Cora!
