Petra got her first (and definitely not her last) pair of wings for Halloween this year. Wings and a pink party dress made her into a pixie/fairy kind of creature. With sneakers. She liked the dress a lot - she was a fan of the tulle - but the wings... meh. She had more fun with them when they were off.
We went to a local event called You Who, a monthly kids' rock variety show, which is probably more about parents getting their live music fix, but she had fun. The house band played the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, and the other acts were heavy metal, rap, and sort of a progressive rock. Portland's mayor came dressed as a mummy. There were also cartoons, circus performers, and six-foot owls roaming around, which Petra loved. She was really drawn to them when they came down off the stage and wandered among the crowd.
She hung back a bit while the bigger kids grabbed hugs and sat in the owls' laps.
