I know a lot of kids do camps, like soccer camp or band camp, in the summer, and it seems that Petra has gotten the concept already. In the last month, she has been working on walking and learning to feed herself like she had a camp counselor standing over her putting her through drills. Her favorite place to go is the school nearby where we walk Pika, where the grass is wide open and soft, and she can practice walking, falling down and getting back up, rolling over, etc. At home she pushed chairs around the living room, and quickly learned the sign for "help", so that she could implore us to turn the chair around so she could push it to the other side of the room.
It's so amazing to look back at pictures and video from just a few weeks ago to see how quickly she's changed. Where she could only stand for a few seconds at a time just last month, she can now walk for long stretches of time, and even almost keep up with us on walks (although her agenda is usually a bit different than ours...). She's also learned to feed herself with a spoon and fork, to the put where we can put food down in front of her and walk away (or *gasp* read the paper) and she can get most of it into her mouth.
We also finally started taking swim lessons, and she loves it. The first few minutes she was a little freaked out (kept signing "all done! all done!"), but now she's a little fish. I only wish our hot summer days would stick around a little longer, since it's an outdoor pool (today was in the 60's!).
